Self Discovery

So I HATE waking up. Every morning I hit the snooze button maybe three times before I tell myself, "Ugh, why do I have to get up?!" I've never been a morning person... even going to school. So I conducted my mornings as I always do... take a shower, get dressed, get okay looking and get out of the house, get into my car and get my thoughts together for the working day. Pretty typical, right? But this particular morning, in between my million-and-one thoughts, I asked myself, "Why do you hate mornings so much? Why do you hate waking up?" I couldn't figure it out. Then another thought popped in. Waking up every morning is a sign that I am ALIVE. And, if for not anything else, I should appreciate waking up for that simple fact. Do I still have bad days? Sure. Do I still want to achieve goals that seem near impossible? Sure. But KNOWING that I have woken up to meet my vises is encouragement enough.

So the past few days, as I am doing my normal, routine drive to work, I can crack a smile and say, "Today is a new shot at life." Maybe this is something everyone but me has realized... but hey, it's my discovery. It's one less thing to complain about. It's one step closer to enlightment, self acceptance, and happiness. Doesn't everyone need a little self discovery to discover anew?
